I don't often just cut and paste PR news releases but one of the few gathering of beery people I truly wish I could attend is that of Beeronomics 2013, a conference on the economics of beer and brewing, as described in the email from the fabulously named Dr. Ignazio Cabras, University of York in England:

BEERONOMICS 2013 aims to be an ideal forum for high-qualty economic research related to beer and brewing activities. The conferences will cover a number of topics from the field of economics, law, policy, marketing and consumptions, industrial organisations, innovation and others... Social events will be organised and held within the historical city centre, an outstanding medieval location with a number of attractions and one of the highest concentrations of pubs in the country. Participants who would like to present a paper are requested to submit an abstract by Friday 8th March 2013 at 5pm (UK time).

Not that I would understand it all but the idea that someone - someones - is looking at the underlying factors which guide the trade in beer. Would you go? Would you write a paper? Could you? You might want to join the Beeronomics Society first to find out if you are up to it. The program for the last conference in 2011 in Germany suspiciously indicates coffee breaks were held each morning. Surely a euphemism.
